Kimberly and Simon Blattner awarded Sonoma’s highest honor for public service

Simon and Kimberly Blattner, philanthropists and active supporters of several Sonoma Valley community and cultural organizations, have been named 2020 Acalde and Alcadessa. 

The honorary title — Spanish for Mayor — is bestowed annually on those who take a leading, selfless role in community service to Sonoma Valley.

The Blattners were saluted for their leadership, vision, and hard work on behalf of La Luz Center, Sonoma Valley Fund, Sonoma Valley Museum of Art, Sonoma Valley Hospital Foundation, and Sonoma Land Trust.The announcement was made at the February 3, 2020 Council Meeting and it was ratified unanimously by the City Council.

The Pueblo-era title was revived in 1975 and is now an annual Sonoma tradition. See full list of honorees bellow. 

One of the nominations for Mr. & Mrs. Blattner noted that each of them individually would qualify as the 2020 Alcalde, but “together they are a unique team that has contributed time and energy year over year to enhance the quality of life.”  

Nominations for Alcalde are based on demonstrating a broad spectrum of voluntary community service to Sonoma Valley, service in a leadership role in at least one non-profit organization, and a history of “consistent behind-the-scenes good deeds.”

The City of Sonoma will host a public reception in Mr. & Mrs. Blattner’s honor on March 10, 2020, 7 p.m. at Vintage House, 264 E First Street East, Sonoma.
