The filing period to run in November for Councilmember in the City of Sonoma has been extended until Wednesday, August 12, at 5 p.m.
Interested residents must file nomination papers for the General Municipal Election of November 3 by the new deadline, at City Hall during normal business hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; closed 12-1 p.m) by appointment only.
Two seats are open, and two candidates have so far declared: Amy Harrington, an incumbent, and Jack Ding.
The other incumbent, David Cook, had long said he would not seek reelection.
Any Sonoma resident age 18 or older who is registered to vote, eligible to take the oath of office, and unless otherwise specifically provided, qualified to vote for the office, can file nomination papers.
