Happy ‘Norah Collins’ Day!

As part of its monthly “Celebrate Sonoma” program, the Sonoma City Council will tonight recognize the community efforts of  Norah Collins.

The proclamation of September 9, 2020 as “Norah Collins Day” will be officially declared during the Council’s 6 p.m. meeting. How to watch it.

Collins began the “prayer shawl ministry” at Trinity Episcopal Church in 2012, leading a group of women who knit or crochet shawls and blankets for people who are ill or otherwise suffering.

The completed shawls are blessed by the priest and packaged for distribution along with a note and a prayer  Since its inception, the prayer shall ministry has given out over 200 shawls. They are free, no questions asked;  Norah and her fellow stitchers pay for and provide all their own materials.
