Fire weather ahead — Red Flag Warning starts Saturday night

With high winds in the forecast, The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning from 9 p.m. Saturday September 26, to 8 a.m. Monday, September 28.

A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme
fire behavior. Winds are forecasted to reach peak gusts of 35 to 50 mph in the hills above 1,000 feet,

In response to the Red Flag event, CAL FIRE Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit has increased its staffing on all available engines not already on the 25 major fires across the state.

CAL FIRE Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit reminds residents to prepare your family, have your Emergency Supply Kit ready, and have evacuation plans in place in case the event a fire starts near you.
