How to vote in person before Tuesday

Voters in Sonoma County who have not already voted by mail or dropbox can vote in person at one of 30 locations throughout the county, including three in the Sonoma Valley. The early-voting option is open 7am-5pm, Sunday-Tuesday.

Unlike prior elections, voters are no longer assigned to a specific polling place and may vote at any of the 30 voting locations. On official election day, Tuesday, November 3, the polling spots will be open 7am-8pm.

The three Valley sites are: Moose Lodge, Broadway; Sonoma Veteran Building, First St. W; and Finnish American Home Association (FAHA), 197 W. Verano Ave. Here’s a map of all 30 spots.

Sonoma County has already seen an unprecedented turnout this election from voters voting by mail. As of Thursday afternoon, the Registrar’s Office reported that more than 167,500 ballots had been received and processed in Sonoma County — already a 55% turnout among all registered voters.

Though voting by mail has proven overwhelmingly popular, in-person voting options remain essential for voters who need to utilize accessible voting equipment, seek language assistance services, or have lost or spoiled their Vote-by-Mail ballots and need replacements.

In-person voting also provides a chance to cast ballots for residents who are eligible to vote but missed the regular registration deadline.

Using the U.S. Mail for voting is no longer recommended, as the mandated 11/3 postmark can’t be guaranteed. But you can drop your Vote-by-Mail off at one of the sites listed above, or am official Sonoma County dropbox. Box locations inlcude the Sonoma Valley Library in Sonoma, and the Glen Ellen Fire Station.
