Donate a book to a local elementary school

Posted on November 24, 2020 by Sonoma Valley Sun
The call is out to help a young student stay engaged in learning by donating a new read-aloud book to Sonoma Valley elementary schools.
Teachers have picked 24 very special read-aloud books they’d like to share with their students in the virtual classroom. These books tell tales of diversity, inclusiveness, and social justice and are geared to young students. Many are available in both English and Spanish.
“Many of our students lost their access to books and stories when we had to close our classrooms and libraries,” said Maite Iturri, principal of El Verano school. “By providing read-aloud books, you are opening windows and doors to the world for our students who are at home with limited interaction with the outside world.”
The drive is being coordinated by the Sonoma Valley Education Foundation in conjunction with Readers’ Books. The goal is to provide a full set of books for every elementary school. Check out the full book list here.
It’s easy to donate a book! Now through December 20, you can either stop by Readers Books or donate through SVEF. 100% of every donation will be used to purchase books.
