Two Sonoma women — the 21-year old driver and her mother — were killed in a car crash this morning on Highway 12 east of Oakmont Drive.

Californa Highway Patrol reported that at about 8:30 a.m, the young woman, traveling with her 44-year-old mother, lost control of a westbound Nissan and crossed into the opposite lane, colliding with a Chevy pickup truck. Both women were pronounced dead at the scene, according to the CHP, which for now is withholding their names.

The driver of the truck, a 60-year-old Santa Rosa man, was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for moderate injuries. There were no other passengers involved in the wreck.

Anyone with information about the fatal crash is asked to call the Santa Rosa CHP Office at 707-588-1400.
