Filling The Basket

Posted on March 6, 2021 by Sonoma Valley Sun

From the coffee maker and hoodie to the 32-quart tamale steamer, and even a U-Haul cargo van to take it all home, The Basket aims to have the items that aren’t generally available in the Springs. With the help of Serene Whedon (above), Omar Homran runs the Fruit Basket at Highway 12 and Thompson Avenue.

He got so many requests for related stuff (toiletries, small appliances, cleaning supplies) that when the shop space next door became available (at 18460 Hwy. 12), he created The Basket. And because there wasn’t a handy place around to rent U-Haul trucks and vans (and buy the required moving supplies), he added those, too.

Plus Western Union service and bill-pay. And? “I’m still adding, still trying to give the community what they want.” The shop is open daily 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
