Student Spotlight: Jaden Filippi, aspiring firefighter

Posted on July 15, 2021 by Sonoma Valley Sun

Jaden Filippi knew he wanted to be a firefighter “pretty much my entire life,” he said recently. A 2021 graduate of Sonoma Valley High School, he will be doing the Santa Rosa Junior College Fire Technology Pathway in the fall, and hopes to complete it in two years. From there he will attend the Fire Academy and then apply to individual fire stations. His hope is to work for Cal Fire. He noted that there never was a more urgent need for firefighters than in these fire-prone times and in our area, among others.

Jaden attended El Verano Elementary and Altimira Middle School before starting at the high school, where he participated in the Future Farmers of America (FFA) program. He credits all of his FFA teachers with helping him learn and grow. “They pushed me out of my comfort zone, in a good way” including attending conferences and public speaking. He also played football and baseball for SVHS.
