As a lifelong resident of the Sonoma Valley and a volunteer docent at the Jack London State Historic Park, I am deeply disappointed with the failure of the State Parks Department to complete the CEQA report (triggered by the Retired State Rangers suit) in a timely manner, leaving the public unable to review it.
The delays and missed timelines have let down our Park and caused hardship for the Transcendence Theater Company and the public who rely on our venue. The incompetence of the State Parks Department has also hindered our ability to generate revenue for necessary deferred maintenance projects and educational experiences for students and guests.
Despite the lack of financial backing from the State Parks Department, our collaboration has made this park a valuable asset to the system (and saved money for the Parks). I urge the State Parks Department to fulfill their responsibilities without throwing roadblocks in our way. That seems to be the task of the Retired Park Rangers Association.
